We have International evens with our Peterlee Partnership schools. Our International Ambassadors represent the whole school at these events. These include Easter swaps, Christmas card swaps, the ‘Up, Up and Away’ project and lots more events.
Our International Ambassadors are Alfie and Lillie.
During European Week class 2 and Reception children have been learning about France and Spain. Their activities included: playing the castanets, singing French songs, self portraits – Picasso style and much more.
During Asia Week, each class studied a different country.
KS1 looked at China and did lots of activities and artwork. Class 3 children studied India and made rangoli and mehndi patterns and Class 4 children learned about Japan and did some fabulous artwork. We then invited parents into school for an Asia Trail.
We have a partnership with Hiriwadunna Maha Vidyalaya School in Rambukkara, Sri Lanka. Together we are completing a project on tourist attractions in our countries.
We have a partnership with Mulambwa Basic School in Mongu, Zambia. We are currently exchanging emails about each other’s schools.
Marielle teaches French in both key stages throughout school.
KS1 are learning colours and are singing songs in French and KS2 are learning conversational French.
KS2 children have been very fortunate to work with Dr David Waugh from Durham University and international students from Geneva. They have been developing their comprehension skills.
